“Growing Up Is Getting Old” is the last song by VICTORIA that is in contention to represent Bulgaria at Eurovision 2021. The song is written by the Bulgarian artist and the Swedish songwriters and music producers Maya Nalani, Helena Larsson and Oliver Björkvall.
VICTORIA about the song: “Growing Up Is Getting Old” is really dear and personal to me. You can grow in many different ways. Sometimes going back to your roots, to the place you feel safe and the people you love, helps you find your purpose on Earth. This is the case for me. When I listen to the song I think of my mother, my father, my sister, my friends. All the people that mean the world to me.”
The Bulgarian artist says about the songwriting process of ”Growing Up Is Getting Old”: “This is one of the first songs I wrote back in 2019 and it all started with the idea I had for the phrase “growing up is getting old”. Together with Maya, Helena and Oliver, we started to build around it and I believe we created something beautiful. The live instrumentation of “Growing Up Is Getting Old” makes the song very special and I hope people will also fall in love with the song.”
Although the music journey of VICTORIA’s first EP “a little dramatic” ends with “The Funeral Song” as the closing album track, the artist and her team decided to introduce “Growing Up Is Getting Old” last because of the positive message the song brings.
On Friday, Team Bulgaria will launch the online platform that will allow music fans from around to world to share their feedback about the 6 songs directly to VICTORIA and her team. Exclusive information about the platform will be released on the news website for Eurovision Bulgaria – eurovision.icard.com. The 6 songs that will have the chance to represent Bulgaria at the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest are “Ugly Cry”, “Imaginary Friend”, “Growing Up is Getting Old”, “Dive into Unknown”, “Phantom Pain” and “The Funeral Song”
